(My) House & Home
Neither a failed dream of peaceful and mutual civic understanding, nor large scale police brutality, it seems, will divert me from the bloggers true task: shameless self promotion. Yes, that really is our back yard–The August issue of House & Home has just dropped through the mail slot, and I am so pleased to be included in the magazine’s annual “stylemakers” issue. Stacey Brandford, who took the house shots–on several occasions!– is a delightful guy (Jamaican originally, married to a German woman, interestingly), and a terrific photographer of interiors.
Senior Editor Sally Armstrong who came along from House & Home to help pull together the shots was a total pleasure to work with and was totally on my page. Beth Hitchcock, who edited the piece, and whom I had never worked with before, turned out to be a complete delight. And I was so pleased in the end to be able to write the story about my own house, in my own words, (and so delighted with how it looks in the magazine), that I now owe Ed-in-chief Suzanne Dimma, who I really think has freshened up the book considerably since taking over, a really nice dinner!

Hi Karen:
We loved seeing your house in House & Home and also the video and hearing your thought process and seeing your ideas. We live in a 60′s townhouse in the middle of Chicago and your living room sofa would work great in our living room. Where did you find it and what’s the fabric? Thanks, Scott
